The Early Years
I was born in Liverpool, England, home of the famous Beatles. I started my musical career as a drummer. Drums had been a passion of mine from a very young age, so I joined my first band at the age of 15.
As a teenager this was a really exciting time for me and certainly set the foundation for what was to become a full time career. In a very short time I found myself playing in pubs and clubs all over the UK and Europe.
Life on the road certainly wasn't glamorous although in 1986 I was part of a 7 piece soul band "Soulatraxion", based in Chester. The band sucessfully auditioned for ITV's New Faces show, this really did give me a true taste of glamour and success. It was during this period that I met then guitarist and now Liverpool Photographer Mark Lea, working with Mark was inspiring as we shared the same passion for music and soon became good friends.
New Horizons
I had been working as a musician for some time yet always felt I had more to offer. During my drumming days, band members would often comment on my singing ability and I was always first choice to sing backing vocals. Despite this I was certainly surprised when a friend asked me if I'd ever considered leaving the safety of drum kit and become a full time singer. Although up to this point I'd never considered this option the seed had been well and truly sown!
Shortly afterwards I decided to give myself 3 months to get my act together. Being under no illusion that this was going to be easy, I knew that hard work and dedication were going to be required.
